Trái với nguồn dự phòng True On-Line là 2 loại nguồn thông thường được dùng phổ biến cho các thiết bị ít quan trọng hơn như PC, màn hình, switch/hub ...
- Bảo đảm việc cấp điện liên tục, ít nhất bảo đảm đủ điện dự phòng cho tới khi hệ thống hoàn tất thủ tục tắt đúng qui trình qui định bởi nhà cung cấp thiết bị.
- Có chức năng ổn áp cung cấp điện thế luôn luôn ổn định
- Có cơ chế phòng chống sét, phòng chống nhiễu lan truyền có thể ảnh hưởng hoặc làm sai lệch kết quả đầu ra của các thiết bị sau nguồn phát
- Có thể nâng cấp nguồn pin để tăng thời gian lưu điện khi cần.
- Có hiệu suất cao (hệ số công suất cao >= 0.7) đáp ứng tiêu chuẩn tiết kiệm điện và khả năng đáp ứng mạnh mẽ cho các thiết bị công suất lớn
- Có khả năng theo dõi, quản lý và bảo đảm các thiết bị được cấp nguồn tự tắt đúng qui cách.

- UPS Off-Line: thường dùng cho máy tính cá nhân (PC), đáp ứng yêu cầu cơ bản, tối thiểu về điện, thường có công suất (CS) nhỏ, có thời gian chuyển mạch giữa các chế độ là từ 2-10ms, không có chức năng ổn áp, không có tinh năng theo dõi, quản lý, hệ số công suất thường là 0,6
- UPS Line-Interactive: Giống loại UPS Off-Line nhưng có thêm tính năng ổn áp và có cổng kết nối với máy tính để theo dõi, quản lý.
